SPEAKERS INCLUDE*:
Steve Barnhart is a Manufacturing Specialist at IMEC. His skills and experience include service development, project management, strategic planning, change management, problem solving, conflict resolution, training, leadership development, and financial analysis. Steve is a service champion at IMEC for Eureka Winning Ways and Lean Accounting and Measurement Systems and is also a certified Prosci Change Management Specialist. Prior to joining IMEC, Steve was the founder and owner of Eagle Rock Consulting for nine years. Steve provided organization development consulting for clients, developed a manager/supervisor skills training curriculum, provided team assessment and development training for leadership teams, developed a web-based strategic planning process, and presented leadership development strategies at both local and international trade association conventions.
Rahul Gangulee serves as the Director of Supply Chain for the new Siemens and Winergy Drive Systems manufacturing facility in Elgin, Illinois. Rahul comes to Winergy-Siemens from Brunswick Corporation, Fl, during his tenure of 7.5 years he served in many functions such as Supplier Quality, Product Development and Supply Chain. Rahul began his career with CNH Global, IA and was with them for a period of 4 years, with his last position as a Six Sigma Black Belt. Rahul holds a M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Bradley University, Peoria, IL a Bachelor’s Degree in Production Engineering from Shivaji University, India, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Calcutta University, India.
William Hass is an Energy and Sustainability Consultant with Shaw
Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc., responsible for the management and
execution of energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainability projects. With over 5 years of experience in managing complex environmental and public policy issues, Bill provides skilled expertise in program management and design, legislative analysis and business development activities. His skills include project management and execution, incentive program and policy analysis, design and implementation, and energy performance contracting within environmental contexts. Prior to joining Shaw, Bill served as Energy Division Representative for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Dee Holody is the Director of Operations for the Great Lakes WIND Network. She possesses extensive experience in strategic change initiatives, integrated manufacturing control systems, quality initiatives, and productivity improvement. With a background in manufacturing, government, and educational institutions, her roles have included project management, operations, sales, and finance. Dee currently serves as Director of Operations for the Great Lakes WIND Network, where she directs efforts to identify and connect, manufacturers interested in the wind industry supply chain. .
David Loomis, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Economics at Illinois State University where he teaches in the Master’s Degree program in electricity, natural gas and telecommunications economics. Dr. Loomis is Director of the Center for Renewable Energy and Executive Director of the Institute for Regulatory Policy Studies. As part of his duties, he leads the Illinois Wind Working Group under the U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. Loomis is part of a team of faculty that has designed a new undergraduate curriculum in renewable energy at Illinois State University. Dr. Loomis earned his PhD in economics at Temple University. Prior to joining the faculty at Illinois State University, Dr. Loomis worked at Bell Atlantic (Verizon) for 11 years. He has published articles in the Review of Industrial Organization, Utilities Policy, Information Economics and Policy, International Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of Business Research, Business Economics and the Journal of Economics Education.
Wigberto (Will) Narvaez joined Nordex USA in October 2008 as a Purchasing Officer with the goal of establishing a US sourcing strategy and supply chain for wind turbine components. Will brings to Nordex USA experience in global sourcing, Lean manufacturing, supplier development and qualification. Prior to joining Nordex USA, Will's career spanned many industries and disciplines, from program and project manager of Fortune 500 companies to design engineer of spaceflight hardware for the International Space Station. He holds an MBA from the Nance College of Business at Cleveland State University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. Nordex USA, a Wind Turbine OEM headquartered in Chicago, IL is scheduled to start production in Jonesboro, AR September 2010.
John Price is President and co-founder of Chicago Industrial Fasteners. The company is 6 years old and distributes all kinds of standard and specialty fasteners for industry. They have been selling to various Wind related companies for about 5 years.
Dale Reckman is Director of Field Services for Great Lakes WIND Network™. A seasoned manufacturing executive with extensive experience in the wind industry, Reckman has over 25 years in operations, engineering and product development, estimating, sales and project management, procurement, and supply chain management. Prior to joining Great Lakes WIND Network, Reckman was Vice President of the Commercial Products Group for Magna Machine Company, a supplier to major wind power OEMs, and an owner of AR Industries.
Dan Voorhis is the Director of the Small Business Development Center at Western Illinois University. Voorhis serves 12 counties in western Illinois, providing existing and prospective businesses with management, marketing and financial counseling to help them succeed in business. The Small Business Development Center offers confidential, one-on-one counseling and group training programs by professionals who know what it's like to face the daily challenges of owning a small business. Voorhis, a graduate of Western Illinois University, has started, operated and successfully sold three businesses.
Bob Weinstein is President of the Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center, a nonprofit economic development and manufacturing consulting organization with an $8.4 million annual budget and 40-plus staff. IMEC is part of the National Manufacturing Extension Partnership that works with over 25,000 manufacturers each year to help them develop and implement market diversification/growth strategies, ensure product quality, implement lean manufacturing and administrative processes, and integrate new technology into their operations. Bob has a Ph.D. in Economics from the university of Texas with research specializations in energy economics and urban regional economic development.
Jack Weatherford is overseeing the ARRA Green Industry Business Development Program for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Energy and Recycling Division. He has been with the agency since 1996, first serving in the Fiscal Management Division processing grants for not-for-profit agencies for 5 years. Before joining the Energy Division he served as a Loan Officer and later the Assistant Manager for the Bureau of Business Development for the agency for 8 years. Prior to working for DCEO he worked for Meyer & VanMeter, CPA’s for twelve years, in the private sector for twelve years, and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office for six years. Jack just finished serving 6 years on the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Board. While a member of that board he was a recipient of the President's Award for outstanding contributions by a Chamber member in promoting the activities of the Chamber, and received the 2008 Chairman's Award for outstanding service by a board member.
Edward G. Weston is director of WIRE-Net’s Great Lakes Wind Network™, a Cleveland-based, industryled organization of manufacturers and suppliers whose mission is to increase the domestic content of North America’s wind turbines. Ed joined WIRE-Net with experience as a senior manufacturing executive in both multi-national corporations and closely-held operations. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in Economics and holds an M.S. from the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University. Ed is also a retired naval officer.
